Volunteers will exhibit a caring, thoughtful, respectful and kind approach when working with their ROW reader.
All participants in the ROW program will treat one another with respect and kindness and will be open to hearing and expressing opinions, ideas and concerns. Volunteers will acknowledge and respect each child’s current reading skill level. Based on this, appropriate books will be provided which will encourage success and confidence in reading. Volunteers will respect the confidentiality of each ROW reader’s personal information.
We ask volunteers to come once a week at your scheduled time. Occasionally, arrangements can be made to come at an alternative time if needed. Your reader looks forward to meeting with you and consistency is important.
ROW sessions with your reader should be fun and a way to share the joy in reading.
We ask that volunteers commit to meeting with their student once a week for the entire school year.
Students get very excited to see their volunteer and eagerly anticipate their arrival.
You will also need to complete forms for the school you have chosen to volunteer. You can find the forms for each school on this page.
